August 9th 2014
This weekend saw our annual inter-club comp with Hampton Park Taverners’ Angling Club. This was a one day comp held on Saturday 9th August from 6am to 3.30 pm.
The conditions were good with some sun, some cloud, but very little wind for most of the day. Some very good salmon were caught on the surf at all beaches. Points were calculated by counting the heaviest five fish weighed in by each club (one fish per member only).
Venus Bay Angling Club took out the honours this year
with total weight of 4760 grams.
Hampton Park Taverners’ tally was 2940 grams.
As has happened in previous years, the Hampton Park Taverners’ organised the spit roast for Saturday night’s dinner, with members from both clubs bringing along the salads and desserts. Thank you Hampton Park for another great job on the spit and for another great evening together!! A very successful raffle was also run with Joe (the con-man) Gristi doing his best to wring every last cent out of as many people as possible, and many prizes being won by members from both clubs.
