Some Venus Bay Information
Venus Bay is a small seaside village, situated on the South Gippsland coast,
between Inverloch and Wilsons Promontory.
It is a heaven, with great surf fishing along the Venus Bay beaches,
bank or boat fishing in Anderson Inlet & river fishing in the Tarwin River. This is the home of winter fishing, with big schools of large salmon along the surf
and in the Inlet. Trevally are also plentiful in the Inlet in winter. Spring & summer see the Inlet come alive with pinky snapper, trevally,
whiting, good sized flathead, and many other species in good numbers.
The Tarwin River is renowned for the great estuary perch caught along it’s banks,
and you can usually get a good feed of mullet or trevally as well. The Venus Bay Angling Club has been in existence since 1979
and we currently have around 250 members, including women and children.
We hold competitions monthly and visitors are welcome to fish in these competitions.
Trophys & prizes are awarded each competition to members, [Senior & Junior],
